According to Rudijanta, the direction of the eruptive material flow played a key role in their safety. “The avalanche of eruptive material is heading south and southeast, while Ranu Kumbolo is on the northern side, so it is not directly impacted,” he explained.

Rudijanta elaborated on the difficult decision to delay the descent. “Considering yesterday afternoon’s rainy weather and the almost dark conditions, it was decided that the trekkers would only descend today, accompanied by officers and guides from PPKST who will escort and ensure all trekkers return to Ranupane by this afternoon,” he clarified.
